What is the sentence for firearms convictions?

The sentence for firearms convictions depends on the offence. For example, the sentencing range for possessing a firearm without a certificate is complete discharge to seven years’ custody. The factors the Court will consider when deciding on an appropriate sentence within the range include the type of weapon and whether you used the weapon.

Are there any defences to firearms charges?
