    Motoring Offences: Fixed Fee

    Drink driving offence, guilty plea – fixed fee £250 (including VAT charged at 20%)

    Fee includes:

    • 2 hours attendance/preparation:
      • considering evidence
      • taking your instructions
      • providing advice on likely sentence
    • Attendance and representation at a single hearing at the Magistrates Court

    The fee does not include:

    • instruction of any expert witnesses
    • taking statements from any witnesses
    • advice and assistance in relation to a special reasons hearing
    • advice or assistance in relation to any appeal

    The key stages of your matter are based on the presumption that you have entered a guilty plea and have a date for your hearing.

    • Meet with your solicitor to provide instructions on what happened.
    • We will consider initial disclosure, and any other evidence and provide advice.
    • Arranging to take any witness statements if necessary (this will have an additional cost, of £50 per hour).
    • The fee includes travel for a 30 mile round trip from our office. Thereafter travel is charged at £80.00 per hour plus VAT at 20%. Mileage is charged at 45 ppm plus VAT at 20%.  Disbursements wil attract VAT at 20%
    • We will explain the court procedure to you so you know what to expect on the day of your hearing, and the sentencing options available to the court. We also advise the likely timescales of the case which will be dependant on your instructions. Some cases can be resolved within only one hearing. Cases which progress to trial are likely to last approximately 4 months.
    • We will conduct any further preparatory work, obtain further instructions from you if necessary and answer any follow up queries you have.
    • We cannot provide a timescale of when your hearing will take place, as this depends on the court listing for that day.
    • We will attend court on the day and meet with you before going before the court. You will be represented by one of our employed solicitors or barrister who is fully briefed with expert knowledge of Road Traffic Law.
    • We will discuss the outcome with you. If advice is required on appeal, this will carry an additional cost.
    • Disbursements (including expert reports and court fees) are not included in our fees. Disbursements will attract VAT at 20%  Sometimes experts may be instructed. Before instructing experts we will obtain quotations and provide you with the costs before formally instructing an expert.  Expert reports may be required in road traffic collision cases and cases of drink/drug driving.
    • On occasions we need to work on an hourly rate basis which is £180.00 per hour plus 20% VAT. If this applies in your case we will let you know at the outset of your case and provide you with a quotation.
    • Depending on the nature of the offence and your personal circumstances you may be eligible for Legal Aid and this is a matter that will always be discussed with you if this is relevant to your case.
